Protonym: Basiceros squamifer
Authorship Borgmeier, 1937b: 245, figs. 30-33
Forms w.q.l.
Bioregion Neotropic
Locality BRAZIL (Rio de Janeiro)
Etymology Borgmeier probably named the junior synonym Basiceros squamifer based on the squamiform pilosity. It is interesting to mention that the term “squama”- possibly originated from the Latin “squalidus” (rough, coated with dirt, dirty), could also be associated with the epithet of this species.
