| Etymology | Littauer, 2025: Table 1: The specific name punctulatum is adjectival, meaning “finely spotted" or "punctured”. In Monomorium (neuter), the neuter ending -um is correct. Under recombination with Chelaner (masculine), mandatory gender agreement (Art. 31.2) requires the form punctulatus. |
