| Type notes | Original description localities were in U.S.A. (Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey) and Europe, but Baroni Urbani, 1971c: 35, and Seifert, 2003b: 146, pointed out that the type-locality should properly be Europe. Earlier, Emery, 1895d: 315, had indicated that Myrmica schencki was based on material misidentified as Myrmica lobicornis by Foerster, 1850a: 69, Schenck, 1852: 82, and Mayr, 1855: 412. Localities given by these authors for the taxon included Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, and Slovenia. |
