Etymology Gallardo named this species longibarbis (from Latin, longi = long and barbis = bearded), because of the long ammochaetae, presumably referring to those on the ventral surface of the head. (Source: Johnson, 2021: 113.)
Primary type information Primary type material: lectotype worker (by designation of Johnson, 2021: 111). Primary type locality: lectotype Argentina: Catamarca (“territoire des Andes”), Antofalla, 3600 m, 3.iii.1923, #1556 (V. Weiser). Primary type depository: MACN. Primary type specimen: CASENT0281103 (lectotype).
