Etymology Morphological, from the Latin ‘albus’ (= white) + ‘spinus’ (= spined), in reference to the lightly colored integument of the propodeal spines.
Primary type information Type-material: lectotype worker (by designation of Prebus, 2021b: 265). Type-locality: lectotype U.S.A.: Puerto Rico, Culebra Island, TYPE No. A.M.N.H. (W.M. Wheeler). Type-depository: MCZC. Type-specimen: M.C.Z. Type 1-3 21013 (lectotype; specimen furthest from pin). (Source: Prebus, 2021b: 266.)
Type notes 1) Wheeler originally described this taxon from 30 syntype workers, 1 syntype queen. 2) Paralectotypes possibly also present in AMNH, MCZC.
