Etymology The Sakalava people are an ethnic group of Madagascar. They occupy the area along the western coast of the island, from Onilahy River in the south to the island of Nosy Be in the north (Feeley-Harnik 1978), overlapping a large part of the range of Stigmatomma sakalava.
