Etymology The species name means "small" in Latin, in reference to the relatively small size of this species.
Primary type information Type-material: holotype worker. Type-locality: Thailand: Central Thailand, Nakhon Nayok Province, Muaeng District, Ban Hin Subdistrict, 14°26′14″ N, 101°22′33″ E, 927 m., hill evergreen forest, nest in bark of large dipterocarp tree, Toona ciliata M. Roem., 18.xi.2019, colony code: WJW-THL19-006 (W. Wang & W. Jaitrong). Type-depository: THNHM. Type-specimen: THNHM-I-21759.
