Etymology Morphological, from the Latin ‘fortis’ (= robust) + ‘spinosus’ (= thorned), in reference to the stout propodeal spines.
Primary type information Type-material: holotype worker. Type-locality: Mexico: Chiapas, 2.6 km SE Custepec, 15.71648 N 92.94423 W, 1740 m, 18.vii.2007, Liquidambar 2nd growth forest, nest in dead stick, #6078 (J. Longino). Type-depository: CASC. Type-specimen: JTLC000010282 (top specimen on pin).
