Etymology From Latin, meaning “grooved”, because of the very pronounced metanotal groove.
Primary type information Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: Malaysia: Negeri Sembilan, Pasoh Forest Reserve, iii-iv.1994, fog sample, 2-15 (M. Brendel, K. Jackson, L. Ficken). Primary type depository: BMNH.
Secondary type information Secondary type material: 4 paratype workers, 1 paratype queen. Secondary type locality: same as for holotype. Secondary type depositories: BMNH, SMNG.
