Type notes The age range of 32 ± 0.1 Ma is probably best regarded as the uncertainty of an upper bound, not as the total deposit age range. This date is derived from uranium-lead dating of a tuff located 188 meters below the insect horizon, and as such the fossiliferous layer may be considerably younger, for example of Arikareean age (29.5-18.5 Ma) based on possible association with nearby vertebrate fossils (CoBabe, Chamberlain, Ivie & Giersch 2002. Rocky Mountain Geology 37(1): 13-30).
