Etymology |
Named after Apollo (ancient Greek: Ἀπόλλων), the mythological god of oracles, healing, archery, music and arts, sunlight, knowledge, herds and flocks, and protection of the young. The locus typicus for this species is located right next to the archaeological site named Apollo Temple, about 2.5 kilometers west of the ancient town of Kourion along the road that leads to Paphos. |
