The species epithet is derived from the Latin verb “collaboro”, which means “to work together” or “to collaborate.” The participle form collaborans translates to “collaborating” or “working together.” This name honors the inter-institutional, collaborative nature of this study and use of CUREs to involve more students in taxonomic research. |
