1) Smith, 1855c originally also included minor workers in his type-series, from Brazil: Santarem (H.W. Bates); these were excluded from the type-series by Borgmeier, 1955: 211, who identified them as Eciton burchellii. 2) In the figure legends of Smith, 1855c: 169, pl. 13, the name Eciton rapax is misspelled as Eciton raptor; an incorrect subsequent spelling that does not enter into homonymy. |
