| Type notes | 1) Donisthorpe, 1932c: 454, cites 1 worker in BMNH (confirmed by Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978); the syntype male has been lost. 2) A worker in OXUM has “Ponera rugosa Smith. Aru.” written on the underside of the card. This specimen also has a Donisthorpe type label, “worker Ectatomma rugosa Smith, TYPE.” This specimen is not type material of Rhytidoponera rugosa (as noted by Donisthorpe, 1932c: 454), but is the holotype of Rhytidoponera wallacei , as is indicated on a lower label (Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978). |
