Primary type information: Type-material: 1 syntype worker, 1 syntype male. Type-locality: Indonesia: Aru Is, “Aru 24” (A.R. Wallace). Type-depository: BMNH. Type notes: The syntype male is now lost. A worker in OXUM has “Ponera rugosa Smith. Aru,” written on the underside of the card. This specimen also has a Donisthorpe type-label, “worker Ectatomma rugosa Smith, TYPE.” This specimen is not type-material of Rhytidoponera rugosa, but is the holotype of Rhytidoponera wallacei Donisthorpe, 1932c, as is indicated on a lower label.
