Etymology The name alfacarensis is derived from Alfacar, a locality that includes part of the Alfaguara mountain range (Granada), where the first specimens of this new species were found.
Primary type information Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: Spain: Sierra de Alfacar, 8.v.1982 (Pascual & A. Tinaut). Primary type depository: UGGS. Primary type specimen: CCZUGR 7.148.
