Etymology The name alfacarensis is derived from Alfacar, a locality that includes part of the Alfaguara mountain range (Granada), where the first specimens of this new species were found.
Primary type information Type-material: holotype worker. Type-locality: Spain: Sierra de Alfacar, 8.v.1982 (Pascual & Tinaut). Type-depository: UGGS. Type-specimen: CCZUGR 7.148.
Secondary type information Paratype-material: paratype workers, paratype queens, paratype males (numbers not stated, 76 in total). Paratype-locality: same as for holotype. Paratype-depositories: MCNM, UAMS, UCCS, UGGS, XEPC.
