Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype (?) worker. Primary type locality: Philippines: (no further data). Primary type depository: unknown (apparently lost). Type notes: 1) No indication of number of specimens is given. 2) From Smith, 1858a’s description and figures Echinopla striata aciculata appears to be correctly placed in Echinopla, but no specimen that is undoubtedly type material can be found, either at BMNH or at OXUM (Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978).
