Primary type information: Primary type material: syntype workers (number not stated). Primary type locality: Argentina: Tucumán (E. Carette). Primary type depository: NHMB. Type notes: 1) Baroni Urbani, 1977e: 85, and Shattuck, 1994: 95, cite 30 worker syntypes from Argentina: Jujuy (Schuel) (NHMB); not type material. 2) Cuezzo, 2000: 259, cites 1 worker from Bolivia (MLPA); not type material. 3) Both these localities are mentioned in the original description but Santschi, 1922c: 374, states “types Tucumán (Dr Carette)”.
