Gnamptogenys brasiliensis pernambucana (Santschi, 1929) an obsolete combination of Holcoponera pernambucana Santschi, 1929
Holcoponera brasiliensis var. pernambucana Santschi, 1929h: 452, fig. 27 (w.) Attributed to Borgmeier. BRAZIL (Pernambuco). Neotropic.
Primary type information: Primary type material: syntype workers (number not stated). Primary type locality: Brazil: Pernambuco, Tapera (B. Pickel) (received from Borgmeier). Primary type depository: NHMB. Type notes: 1) Baroni Urbani, 1973b: 128, cites 14 worker syntypes in NHMB. 2) Scott-Santos et al., 2008: 79, indicate that MZSP houses 2 syntype workers of Holcoponera pernambucana (Coll. Borgmeier 1709, MZSP0083478). Additionally, Borgmeier's handwritten catalog #1709 (at MZSP) indicates that the specimen is a “Typen”. Thus, this specimen is likely part of the type series, as it was Borgmeier who recognized the species and sent it to Santschi for their description. (Mônica Antunes Ulysséa)
