Meranoplus subpilosus Smith, 1860c: 78, pl. 4, fig. 2 (w.) BRAZIL (Amazonas). Neotropic.
Primary type information: Primary type material: syntype workers (number not stated). Primary type locality: Brazil: Amazonas, Ega (=Tefé) (H.W. Bates). Primary type depositories: BMNH, ZSBS. Type notes: In Smith, 1860c’s original description the type locality is given as St Paul (= São Paulo de Olivença) (H.W. Bates). However, Kempf, 1951: 61, says that the syntypes are labelled “Ega, Amazon R., Brazil”, now Tefé, Amazonas state.
