Primary type depositories: MCZC, MZSP, NHMB. Type notes: Klingenberg & Brandão, 2005: 46, cite syntype workers of Sericomyrmex moreirai (Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Werneck col., iii.1923, Coll. Borgmeier 4203) at MZSP, but the collector of these specimens differs from the syntype series. However, MZSP houses 1 worker (Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Moreira col., Coll.
