Stenamma neoarcticum Mayr, 1886d: 454 (q.m.) U.S.A. (California). Nearctic.

Primary type information: Primary type material: 2 syntype queens, 2 syntype males. Primary type locality: U.S.A.: California, Oct. (T. Pergande) (invalid restriction of type locality by Creighton, 1950a: 138; no lectotype designated). Primary type depositories: NHMW, USNM. Type notes: 2 syntype workers (1 worker New Hampshire (T. Pergande), 1 worker Virginia (T. Pergande)) were excluded from the original type series by Mayr, 1887: 628, and Emery, 1895d: 299, who identified them as specimens of Stenamma brevicorne Mayr, 1886d, and not conspecific with the queens and males.

[Note: these synonymies with Stenamma brevicorne all appear to relate to the excluded workers, not to the genuine syntype queens and males of Stenamma neoarcticum. Snelling, 1973c: 25, identifies the queen and male syntypes of Stenamma neoarcticum as synonymous with Stenamma occidentale Smith, 1957b, but gives Stenamma occidentale Smith, 1957b priority, whereas Stenamma neoarcticum should be the senior synonym.]
