Primary type information: Primary type material: 2 syntype workers. Primary type locality: Brazil: (no further data) (H.W. Bates?). Primary type depository: unknown (syntypes lost (not in BMNH or OXUM (De Andrade & Baroni Urbani, 1999: 493))). Type notes: Smith, 1853 says “I have only seen two specimens, one in the collection of the British Museum, and one in my own”.
