Type notes: 1) Baroni Urbani, 1977e: 80, cites 1 worker, 1 queen syntypes in NHMB. 2) Shattuck, 1994: 11, cites 16 worker, 6 queen, 5 male paralectotypes in MHNG. 3) Other original syntype locality: Brazil: São Paulo (H. von Ihering) (invalid restriction of type locality by Kempf, 1972b: 29; no lectotype designated). 4) Brazil specimens excluded from type-series by Longino, 1989b: 7. 5) MZSP houses 4 syntype workers that were excluded from the syntype series without being examined by Longino, 1989.
