Primary type information: Primary type material: 36 syntype workers, 1 syntype ergatoid queen. Primary type localities: 30 workers South Africa: Natal, Stamford Hill (I. Trägårdh) (invalid restriction of type locality by Wheeler, 1922: 785; no lectotype designated), 2 workers South Africa: Charlestown, 30.iv.1905 (I. Trägårdh), 5 workers South Africa: Zululand (I. Trägårdh). Primary type depositories: MCZC, MRAC, NHMB (perhaps also NHRS). Type notes: 1) In the original description all specimens are cited as workers. 2) Baroni Urbani, 1973b: 139, cites 9 worker syntypes in NHMB.
