Ponera pompiloides
Smith, 1857
an obsolete combination of Leptogenys pompiloides (Smith, 1857)
Ponera pompiloides
Smith, 1857a:
69 (m.)
SINGAPORE.
Indomalaya.
Primary type information:
Type-material: 2 syntype males. Type-locality: Singapore: “Sing.” (A.R. Wallace). Type-depositories: BMNH, OXUM.
Type notes:
Smith originally published the type-locality as Borneo (Sarawak). There are no Wallace material males that match this locality with the original description. However, there are two Singapore males that do match the description. Donisthorpe, 1932c: 448, decided that the locality labels had probably been miswritten, substituting Sarawak for Singapore, and that conclusion is accepted here.
