Ponera pompiloides Smith, 1857 an obsolete combination of Leptogenys pompiloides (Smith, 1857)
Ponera pompiloides Smith, 1857a: 69 (m.) SINGAPORE. Indomalaya.
Primary type information: Primary type material: syntype males (number not stated). Primary type locality: Singapore: “Sing.” (A.R. Wallace). Primary type depositories: BMNH, OXUM. Type notes: 1) Smith, 1857a originally published the type locality as Borneo (Sarawak) and there are males in Wallace material that match this locality (Sarawak) with the original description. However, there are two Singapore males that also match the description. 2) Donisthorpe, 1932c: 448, cites 1 male in OXUM (he decided that the locality labels had probably been miswritten, substituting Sarawak for Singapore). 3) Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978, cites 1 male in BMNH (“identical and appears to be from the same series”).
