Pachycondyla villosa (Fabricius, 1804) an obsolete combination of Neoponera villosa (Fabricius, 1804)
Formica villosa Fabricius, 1804: 409 (q.) SURINAME. Neotropic.
Primary type information: Type-material: lectotype queen (by designation of Fernandes et al., 2014: 155). Type-locality: Suriname: Essequibo. Type-depository: ZMUC. Type notes: 1) Fernandes et al., 2014: 155, report that data on the specimen is, “Essequibo, Smidt, Mus. Sehestedt”. Original description has (in full), “Habitat in America meridionali Dom. Smidt. Mus. Dom. de Sehestedt”, without indication of caste of specimen. Essequibo is most probably the old name for part of Suriname, rather than the river of that name. 2) Zimsen, 1964: 426, reports 2 specimens in ZMUC, 1 in ZMUK.
