Aphaenogaster araneoides inermis
Forel, 1899
an obsolete combination of Aphaenogaster inermis Forel, 1899
Aphaenogaster (Ischnomyrmex) araneoides var. inermis
Forel, 1899e:
60 (w.m.)
COSTA RICA.
Neotropic.
Primary type information:
Primary type material: lectotype worker (by designation of Mackay & Dash, 2016: 8). Primary type locality: lectotype Costa Rica: (no further data) (Tonduz) (by restriction of Mackay & Mackay, 2017: 275). Primary type depository: MSNG.
Secondary type information:
Secondary type material: 5 paralectotype workers, 2 paralectotype males. Secondary type locality: same as for lectotype. Secondary type depository: MSNG.
Type notes:
Other original syntype locality: Panama: Bugaba (Champion). There is inconsistency here as Forel, 1899b: 60, states that the Costa Rica sample contained only workers, while the Panama sample was of workers and males. Therefore the males designated as paralectotypes could not originate in Costa Rica, and both localities must be represented in the lectotype/paralectotype series.
