Primary type information:
Primary type material: holotype queen. Primary type locality: Japan: Hokkaido, Nokkeuchi (no collector’s name; perhaps Teranishi). Primary type depository: unknown.
Type notes:
1) The holotype specimen was initially referred to as Lasius umbratus by Teranishi, 1927 (reference not seen). 2) The type locality of Lasius teranishii is exactly the same as Lasius ouchiiTeranishi, 1940; it is possible that the same queen specimen is responsible for both names.
