Primary type information: Primary type material: 1 syntype worker, 1 syntype queen. Primary type locality: Indonesia: Sulawesi (“Celebes”), Makassar, “Mak.” (A.R. Wallace). Primary type depository: OXUM. Type notes: 1) Donisthorpe, 1932c: 457, cites 1 queen in OXUM. 2) Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978, cites 1 worker, 1 queen syntypes in OXUM. 3) Smith, 1860a did not give a type locality in the original description of this species. The only specimens in OXUM that match the original description of this species were these two from Makassar, the queen of which was already regarded as a type by Donisthorpe (Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978).
