Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: Indonesia: Aru (A.R. Wallace). Primary type depository: BMNH. Type notes: Donisthorpe, 1932c: 453, cites 1 worker in OXUM; this specimen (labelled “Aru 50” and with a Donisthorpe type-label), is not a type, and not a specimen of Echinopla serrata. It entirely fails to match the original description, but compares well with a syntype of Echinopla australis Forel, 1901m that is in BMNH (Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978).
