Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: Italy: vic. Naples, Bellavista, above Portici (C. Emery). Primary type depository: unknown (apparently not in MSNG). Type notes: 1) A “syntype” cited by Salata et al., 2018: 778, has the data: “Napoli, vii.(18)77, Casamicciola”. This is not type material (as was noted by Baroni Urbani, 1971d: 1043); the date is incorrect and in the original description Emery, 1869b states he has only “one specimen”. 2) Baroni Urbani, 1971d: 1043, cites as “neotypes” a worker, a queen and a male, from “Sirolo (Ancona)”.
