Primary type information: Primary type material: syntype major workers, syntype minor workers (numbers not stated). Primary type localities: major workers Spain: Canary Is, Tenerife I., Laguna (Medina), minor workers Spain: Canary Is, Gran Canaria I., Las Palmas (A. Cabrera y Diaz). Primary type depository: MHNG. Type notes: 1) Forel, 1893f: 465, says he is uncertain of the conspecificity of the majors and minors from the two localities and two collectors. 2) Fischer & Fisher, 2013: 346, designated a lectotype major worker and 3 paralectotype minor workers but gave the locality only as Canary Is, without further data. 3) Seifert, 2016b: 3, designated a second (different) lectotype major worker from Las Palmas (presumably collected by A. Cabrera y Diaz). 4) Therefore the original syntype data is given as “Type material”.
