Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype major worker. Primary type locality: Indonesia: Aru Is, “Aru 45” (A.R. Wallace). Primary type depository: OXUM. Type notes: 1) Donisthorpe, 1932c: 452, cites 1 major worker in OXUM; (confirmed by Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978). 2) There is also a minor worker in OXUM, labelled “Aro 45” and with a blue Smith det. label. In the original description Smith, 1859a mentions only the major worker; the minor should therefore be excluded from the type-series (Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978).
