Primary type information: Primary type material: syntype workers (number not stated). Primary type locality: U.S.A.: New York (A. Fitch). Primary type depository: unknown (no material known to exist (Creighton, 1950a: 369)). Type notes: 1) Fitch, 1855: 705, says that his insect specimens will be deposited in the “Entomological department of the Museum of the [N.Y. State Agricultural] Society”, the present whereabouts of which are apparently unknown. 2) Wheeler, 1917c: 26 (in text), claimed that Fitch type-material was detected in USNM.
