Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype (?) worker. Primary type locality: Europe: (“Habitat in Europae.”) (no further data). Primary type depository: unknown (no material known to exist (Yarrow, 1954a: 232)). Type notes: 1) No indication of number of specimens is given. 2) Linnaeus, 1761: 426, gives the type locality as Sweden, accepted by Yarrow, 1954a: 232. 3) One Linnaean specimen is cited in LSLC by Day & Fitton, 1978: 196, but it is not known if this is type material.
